What is zelocal?

Zelocal is your online resource for making real-world connections with others in your community, neighborhood, town or city – for profit, for play or for a cause. Simply sign-up for FREE and create an account. You’ll then be able to put up your own postings as well as view and respond to postings from zelocals near you. upup

How do I join zelocal?

Why do you need my address and name?

Your privacy is very important to us at zelocal and we never share your information with anyone. Your address allows us to give you the most relevant experience and lets you get the most out of your neighborhood. And since we encourage real-world interaction, wouldn’t it be nice to live in a neighborhood where everyone knows your name? upup

What if I want to change my profile information?

Changed your hair color? Changed your address? Changing your profile is easy. Just go to your account and click on the “edit” button. Make the changes to your profile and click “update” when you’re finished. upup

How do I find out what’s going on in other areas?

Curious about what other neighborhoods are up to? Simply click the “did we guess wrong” link in the top right corner of the home page, enter the city and state you would like to check out and take a peek at what some of the other zelocals are up to. You can also make your search more targeted by entering relevant key words and refining your location. To modify the location, click on “Change Location” in the Refine Results box. upup

How do I add zePost?

Once you’re registered, simply click on “add zePost” - located under the search bar. Enter all the related information including title, category, listing, location, tags and schedule. Remember, the more information you enter, the more appealing your posting will be to zeNeighbors. Once you’ve finished your post, click on “submit” and you’re good to go. You can modify or delete your post any time from your profile page. upup

What is zeProfit?

Looking for a gig? Offering a service? Searching for talent? If it’s in your neighborhood, you can find it on zelocal. Search the posts in zeProfit section to find what you’re looking for or, create your own post and have zeneighbors find you. zeProfit listings of zeLocal are color coded in green. upup


What is zePlay?

Whether you’re throwing a block party, looking for a tennis partner or starting a book club, you can search for zelocals in your neighborhood who are interested. Browse their postings or create one of your own. zePlay listings of zeLocal are color coded in orange. upup

What is zeCause?

Zelocal is a great place to drum up support for a cause. Create a post to get local support for an injured neighbor, find others who support your opposition to legislation or just join forces with other zelocals to create a powerful buying bloc. You can also browse existing posts. Chances are, you’ll find something that moves you. zeCause listings of zeLocal are color coded in blue. upup

I’d like to participate. Where do I start?

Once you’ve registered, participating is easy. Explore the posts in your area and click on the ones that interest you to contact your neighbors. Or, create a post of your own and wait for your neighbors to get in touch with you. upup

What are tags?

Tags are keywords associated with a listing (zePost). They help describe zePost by providing the word that summarizes the main idea of zePost at a glance, and they allow zePost to be found easily by browsing or searching.
Tags appear on the home page of zelocal. They increase and decrease in size depending on how often they’re used to describe posts. Click on tags that grab your attention and you’ll be able to view all the listings associated with that word, giving you easy access to postings that interest you. upupup

How do I report abusive or inappropriate listings and/or comments?

Click Contact Us and send us an email describing the issue in as much detail as possible, along with any evidence you have of the abuse you are reporting. Please write "Report Abuse" in the subject line and we’ll follow up on your request asap. For detailed information on how we proceed with reports of abuse, please review our Terms of Service. upup

I didn’t receive a verification message. What should I do?

Check the spam folder - sometimes they end up there. If it’s not there, request another verification email. If that doesn’t work, contact us at shout@zelocal.com, and we’ll straighten it out right away. upup

What are “schedules” and how do I use them?

“Schedules” are a convenient way for you to let zelocals know the times and the dates you’re available to perform a service or participate in an event. By selecting a date and time range, you can create up to three schedules per listing. Your schedule will be accessible to other members of zelocal who are interested in your listing. Selecting the “recurring” flag will enable your listing to be brought up in search results every week. You can modify schedules from your profile or go directly to edit listing page. You can also check the availability of other zelocals by viewing their schedules. upup

What neighborhoods are on zelocal?

Eventually, we hope every neighborhood will be on zelocal. Right now, we are still in beta and focusing on New York City. upup

Is zelocal free?

Yes! There’s never a fee for using zelocal. Signing-up, reading, responding to and creating posts on zelocal is always free.
Any exchange of money for services shall be negotiated by the individual who created the post and the individual responding. upup

How do I share my listing?

After you create zePosting, you can either email your listing utilizing the “Tell a Friend” feature or send a link by copying and pasting the URL in the address bar of your browser. Don’t forget, adding tags to your listings makes them more visible on the home page. upup

How do I delete my post?

You can edit or delete your posts by going to your “My Account” page and clicking the edit/delete icons to the left of the listing you would like to modify. upup

Can I add pictures or videos to my listing?

No, but it’s a feature we are working on, so stay tuned! upup

Can I send a message to another user?

No. zelocal only allows users to communicate with each other by responding to posts. We will have message capability in the future, but we primarily encourage offline meetings. upup

What is the rating system and how does it work?

The zelocal rating system lets you know the posts you are responding to are legit. These are posts from people in your neighborhood, and when they have a positive interaction through zelocal, they validate each other. This way, you know who to trust and who the stars are. When you get rated, others are assured you’re for real as well. Ratings are a great way to promote your listing! upup
